This is an excerp from a new book I am working on;I worked for a company who implemented a new performance management system and they were using the annual performance review tool for the first time.Firstly the tool was absolutely ridiculous and the scoring system was guaranteed to infuriate the entire workforce. Too close to home!

My brother was injured in a mine site incident yesterday and the good news is he survived a potentially fatal event.



So, I had to take my safety hat off and be a loving sister first. Once I was convinced he was ok and on the road to recovery I started asking questions.

Something has been bugging me for a long time and I would like to ask your opinion.

If you were told about incidents at other workplaces, could you better prepare and learn from a current event?
